Helping people on the line as fast as possible Patrick, Technical Department
The Technical Department is mainly in charge of interventions in case of technical issues with the production lines or cooking installations when the line managers or foremen are incapable of solving the problem. The lines don’t run continuously. During downtime or holidays we also provide preventative maintenance on these lines.
Another important aspect of our job is the kaizen. These are small-scale improvement projects, carried out by line managers or technicians or as a result of a collaboration of both. This can range from improvements to the line to ergonomics and often involve small as well as big interventions.
Each technician follows up at least two lines. There are thirteen production lines in total and several cooking installations. This year, I am in charge of line four and the “Bartelt”. Being in charge of a line means we also implement most of the kaizens on the line in question and are also assigned the preventative maintenance of these lines.
There are fourteen people in the technical department, ten labourers and four employees. Our planning schedule changes from day to day. Where possible of course, because a major breakdown takes priority over everything else.
I like working at Campbell’s. The food is good at lunch and there is usually some time to relax after lunch in the recreation room. I like my job and to a certain extent I also decide what I will be doing. My challenge is to give it my all, and to ensure that people on the line are helped as soon as possible. To sum it all up: I help create an efficient and safe working environment.
