Over the years I also became a manager Yvan, First line manager
I started out in 1989 at Campbell’s as a temp worker, working in various departments until I got a permanent job in the packaging department. Since then, I have worked in various departments and over the years I also became a manager.
Our plant employs 140 workers. I draw up the planning schedule for two departments. My job is also known as ‘brigadier’ (foreman). In one department, the stocks are prepared, meaning stocks are drawn. In the vegetable department, we mainly depickle, blanch and cut gherkins and onions before putting them in the jars or making pickles.
I draw up this schedule weeks beforehand, but often I have to adapt it. As a manager, I see every part of the plant. I work inside and outside and get a lot of movement. Sometimes I also lend a hand and operate the machines myself. This reminds me of what work on the line is all about.
I am proud of working for well-known brands, especially Devos Lemmens, which is really part of people’s lives. Everyone knows that this brand is a guarantee for quality.
